About Giclées

Patrons enjoy them as an alternative to originals for their home or office. We chose one of our patrons, Mountain View Optometry, located in Cochrane, Alberta, as a good example of how our giclées look when tastefully displayed in oversize mats.

Only giclée prints of original artwork are offered on this website

The materials that make up a giclée are extremely durable. The ink has been tested to last 92 years without fading or instability, and the enhanced matte paper is archival quality.

Our giclées are known for faithfully capturing the  visual  impact  of  the  originals.

Giclées can be found on display in the world’s finest museums and art galleries and often they can be hard to distinguish from originals. The collector can expect to enjoy this fine art for many decades. As with all fine art it is recommended that it be kept away from excessive exposure to direct sunlight, heat and high humidity.

Original works may be purchased at our Gallery, Nanaimo Art Gallery, or at our shows.

We chose it over other printing methods because it met our exacting standards for art reproduction, durability and longevity.

All our prints are giclées. A giclée is a high-end fine art print recognized as “the next best thing to owning the original.” The French word “giclée” is a feminine noun that means a spray or spurt of liquid. Giclée prints are typically created using professional 8 to 12 colour ink-jet printers. The digital technology to create giclées was developed in the 1990s.
